Hirst Park Middle School Parents and Carers
It would appear that Hirst Park Middle school, in Ashington, Northumberland has a serious bullying problem, and that procedures to stop this happening are not being taken seriously, thus the problem gets worse.
Absenteeism in 2004 was way above national average, 17.2% in this school, compared to the national average (NA) of 5.1%, I'm tempted to say that many of the children are frightened and try to stay home? Comments on this are VERY welcome!
Education has also suffered, English 67% compared to the NA of 78%, Mathematics, 56,% compared to the NA of 74%, Science 69% compared to the NA of 86%, Overall, performance has dropped significantly during the past year, the school only achieving a score of 192 (2003 was 212), the national trend for other schools however is for improvement! 234 in 2003, 237 in 2004. Comparing these results to the national average, we find that the school is performing very poorly, what the school should be asking is why? And how can this be improved? Both would be positive moves forward and might seem obvious to ourselves, for some reason, not so obvious to the staff, who can make changes.
This website will shortly be usable whereby you will be able to post your concerns for your children's' safety at the school, or perhaps the reasons why you moved your child from the school? Or maybe you have nothing but good reports about the school? Parents, carers, and teachers of course are welcome to post their concerns.
This information will be freely available for prospective parents to view and will hopefully cause the school to review their staff, and policy regarding antisocial behaviour, Instead of just denying there is a problem!
